This elephant, who was roughly 4 years old, was one of the orphanage's oldest. It was quite protective with the smaller ones, and I had to be very careful around it. I was fortunate enough to get a close-up shot of it while it was eating some leaves. The primary reason these beautiful animals are rescued by the orphanage is that their parents have been killed by poachers.
