This digital painting depicts an RV with a mountainous landscape exterior parked underneath a pink tree with a ladder resting on one of the branches. Taking inspiration from pointillism, I aim to confuse the boundaries between photography and painting through detailed pixelated marks.
This series of digital paintings was produced in quarantine during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. As a photographer, I tabled my typical approach to image-making for a more digital process. Through collaging and sampling colors from taken and found photographs, these images blend illustrative and pointillist approaches to portray the shifting American landscape, question the “truth-telling” nature of photography, and blur the boundaries between mediums through detailed pixelated marks.
