The drum is almost 90 years old. The man who bought it at Chochiti Pueblo in the 1930s was named Henry Salloch. He was a teacher and artist who escaped from nazi Germany and came to Taos, NM for a time. My wife and I knew him in Chestertown, MD as the artist husband of a colleague of hers at Washington College. After he died, his wife offered to sell Kathy some of his collected treasures. We bought the drum, the horse tail rattle (farthest object on the drum), and one of Henry's weavings. It has a special presence and sounds good, too, despite its age. The fuzzy item bottom left is actually a wallaby pelt draped over the back of a chair. The other mysteries in this shot I'll leave for you to find. 4032 x 2268.

New Mexico belongs to God and we just pass on through. As I once wrote, "The thing was though, they'd done it, the entire Taos murder trip, yet both of them were still together, healthy, and the love danced in her eyes." Kathy & I moved from Maryland to Taos County in 1999. The landing was a shock but we gave it all we had. New Mexico is never easy but stupendous. The story's in the photographs & their descriptions. JHFARR.ART is relevant. NFTs are 1/1s. - JHF
