Digital illustrations inspired by the fiction and ideas of J.G. Ballard
This is a digital series that I've been playing with for some time now, and I'm presenting it as an NFT collection called "Ballardian" on OpenSea. These are simple 3D models with surfaces composed of screenshots from my video animations, which are made from collaged and blurred videos of 3D models. A collage of a collage that is collaged again. The title refers to J.G. Ballard, a writer I've long admired. Ballard's voice as a writer is distinctive enough to have become an adjective descriptive of his style. A definition of "Ballardian" is: "resembling or suggestive of the conditions described in Ballard's novels and stories, especially dystopian modernity, bleak man-made landscapes, and the psychological effects of technological, social or environmental developments" (Collins English Dictionary). Ballard's imagery of zoomed-in photography, cryptic billboards and abandoned machinery or structures also played a part
