Kenga is a media brand that captures Africa's Gen Z culture.
For our debut issue, we explored how Afro Gen Zs are redefining the conception and expression of masculinity. We created 5 digital covers for the issue, with each cover portraying a unique perspective on the male identity.
Andrew Djan-Sampson, who photographed this cover in Accra, Ghana, explains:
“The idea behind this shoot was to show the male form as soft, aside the veil being a contribution to aesthetics, it was also a symbol. The veil is often associated with female brides, on our male muse it’s open to all sorts of interpretation. Being a man does not have to be one stiff thing. It can be many things, and I believe Afro Gen Zs are living and showing us this truth, which is what this particular issue is really about.”
