Another Spill Single Edition 1/1 NFT Art Collection by Alann J.
This painting shows a robot recovering from another spill incurred while skateboarding in an area clearly marked “NO SKATEBOARDING”. That is the Trojan Horse that brings the rebellious skate boarder to my world. The story that is then revealed is about the two largest man-made environmental disasters of all time. The EXXON Valdez, and the Deep Water Horizon oil spills. The number 11 plays a significant role in both spills. With the EXXON Valdez 8 out of 11 cargo holds we punctured spilling 11,000,000 gallons of crude oil into Prince William Sound. The Deepwater Horizon platform exploded on Aril 20th, 2010, 11 workers were killed and their bodies were never recovered. My wife has told me the meaning of the painting may be too dark given the fun image the painting portrays, and I understand that, but I was compelled to tell the story, and I can’t avoid the conflict of a funny image masking a dark subject. And that is why the Joker graffiti appear on the wall as if painted with crude oil that runs silently toward the sand.
Although Alann attended the Colorado Institute of Art for Advertising design, he is self-taught as a painter. Formerly a Super Realist, Alann has recently turned his brushes in a new direction, creating a completely new genre he calls Mechanical Surrealism. Known in the art circles for his rusted robots living life in much the same way we humans do, he has been nicknamed the "Painter of Rust". Alann's work is typically oil on canvas (or wood since painting #26) infused with found and harvested objects he collects specifically for his art. You will see nothing else like it anywhere you travel, and anywhere you look, because there is only one "painter of rust".
