Tea And Cake - Beach by Rohan Ganapathy

Poem:

I pressed my palms into the sand,

and lifted one up to see the imprint of my hand, while she rubbed sun screen,

for she hated me getting tanned.

Bored with building imaginary sand castles,

collecting shells had become a hassle,

"Can I jump in already?" restlessly I asked.

"Not until you finish the cake" she said, as she basked.

Tea and cake by Rohan Ganapathy

Story:

The 3 hands are a metaphor for "Three hands of the family, the child, the mother & the father".

Tea and cake is a collection that's a darker take on a fading happy memory I shared with my mother when I was a child.

My mum used to always have cake & a drink(mostly tea) ready for me after I came back from school & fed it to me as I watched cartoons. It was a constant even when we used to go on picnics or to the beach & many such instances during my childhood. As a child I swore to myself that I would take care of them & be there for them when they needed me when they are older. But life had other plans for me. I now live in constant fear of losing them when Im not with them.

This collection encapsulates these memories from the eyes of a child who is now living with that fear.

Each photo is accompanied by a unique poem written & recited by me.

Locations are picked based on the actual memory.

Contains subtle gamification.
