くま五郎とクマーベルｘDOLL PLAY 公認アーティストコラボ企画オークション作品。

ロザリー（コンシェルジュリー牢獄でのマリーアントワネットのお世話役）から名前を取りました。

少女と人形をテーマにした作品を創っています。 人形は鏡の中の自分自身を投影したものです。

19世紀のヨーロッパでは、人形は上流階級の少女たちの人気のおもちゃだった。

人形の主な役割は２つ。

１つは、心の支えとなる存在。 上流階級の子供たちは、親と接する時間が限られており、主に乳母に育てられた。 そのため人形は、寂しい心をなぐさめてくれる家族であり、友達だった。

もう１つは、人生を疑似体験するための存在。 興味深いのは、人形遊びのアイテムに喪服や棺があり、お葬式ごっこをしていたということ。 当時の子供にとって死は今以上に身近なものだったのかもしれない。 人形を通じて、子供たちは、社会の慣習や人生について学んだ。

そんな歴史や時代背景から着想を得て、このシリーズを創りました。

I create works on the theme of girls and dolls. The doll is a projection of herself in the mirror.

In 19th century Europe, dolls were a popular toy for upper-class girls.

Dolls played two main roles.

One is as an emotional support. Upper-class children had limited contact with their parents and were mainly brought up by nannies. Dolls were therefore a family member and friend to fill the gaps in their hearts.

The other is a presence to simulate life. Interestingly, items for playing with dolls included mourning clothes and coffins, and they played funeral games. Death may have been closer to children then than it is now. Through dolls, children learnt about social conventions and life.

This historical background inspired the creation of this series.
