It is not about nudity, but a revolutionary gesture! In a period of socio-political turmoil such as the 70s in Italy, nudity was seen by women as a way to claim their freedom, including sexual freedom. For the first time, women were taking their clothes off on stage and in the movies. Nudity was an achievement. The question of the female body takes on an absolutely central role: women use body language to communicate their revolt, their discomfort, their difference; they use it as an instrument of liberation. Exposing herself bare-skinned serves to claim the right to an unpolished but much more real image of a woman's body against the dominant images in the media space that propose flawless bodies; moreover, it also serves to tell her story.
