A Life On Earth
#17 Black Caiman
The Transpantaneira Highway is a road that crosses the Pantanal in the state of Mato Grosso in Brazil. The dirt road is 147 km long and crosses 122 wooden bridges.
Black caimans look similar to alligators and crocodiles and can reach up to 17 feet long.
The wild animals can be very territorial, especially if they have a nest and eggs nearby.
With no real predators in their native home, Black caimans are at the top of the food chain.
