It should have been a simple hurdle, a fence that had been conquered all summer long. Alone, the young deer tried to regain its balance, night approaching and the cold exhaustion becoming winter. He would be found in the spring along the perimeter fence, the wire wound tight and his bones washing down the incline in the spring floods. A misstep made entirely in virtue and yet a mortal failing, a hart in perpetual leap.
Composed of garden debris, urban detritus and found animals and birds, Kate’s work explores recurring themes of redemption, grace, and metamorphosis. Digital collage. 2021.
