Today, a butterfly came flying through the open window as the baby was napping. Then she sat near the window and did not move anymore so I put a glass over her to take her out myself. For a second, I thought of keeping her there, just for my amusement, just to look at her in her glass prison. Just so she could keep me company as I cleaned and breastfed and cooked.
I then felt guilty. I wished this for so long, I tried for many years and now that I have it, I feel claustrophobic.
Why? Maybe I'm not meant for this? Do others feel as I do?
I took the butterfly out and let her fly.

This collection is a love poem to life. It is part of the documentation where I tell the story of my transition into motherhood during the Covid-19 pandemic. I focus on the details and poetry of the day to day, and I aim to express the vulnerability and loneliness that early motherhood means, especially during the lockdown time. The descriptions are translated from my diary, originally written in Spanish.
