I could have never imagined what was awaiting me on the other side. I was terrified when I felt the dull pain that literally intended to break me in two. I thought I could not do it, that I was not strong enough.
But when being afraid was no longer an option I sunk in the pain and we both emerged as one to the world, crying and full of blood, connected by a pulsating cord that unites us even after my partner cut it with shaking hands. She was perfect. She curled up on my chest and seeked my breast.
Then, she took her first shit ever on me.
And so, baptized by my newborn, covered in blood and shit, I started the motherhood journey.

This collection is a love poem to life. It is part of the documentation where I tell the story of my transition into motherhood during the Covid-19 pandemic. I focus on the details and poetry of the day to day, and I aim to express the vulnerability and loneliness that early motherhood means, especially during the lockdown time. The descriptions are translated from my diary, originally written in Spanish.
