A 1964 white Rioja made from a blend of 90% Viura and 10% Malvasia which were from low yielding old vines located on the right bank of the Ebro river in the Rioja Alta region. 1964 was an outstanding vintage in Rioja for both red and white wines and this wine took full advantage of the perfect growing season. After hand harvest, the grapes were basket pressed and fermented in century old wooden vats with indigenous yeast and then aged for 10 years in neutral American oak barrels. Intentional interaction with oxygen has given this wine a touch of oxidization which has created complex flavours and allows the wine to age gracefully for many years in bottle. This wine is full-bodied, complex but still fresh with racing acidity with flavours of honey, peach, lemon peels, dried apricots, wax, cedar and a touch of burnt toast. The palate is balanced and has an incredible, long finish.
Sweetness: dry
Acidity: medium-plus
Tannin: low
Alcohol: medium
Body: full
