STORY OF WANT: Varanasi is one of world’s oldest city. It is colorful and magical but also chaotic. This sacred city is situated near Ganges River which is full of life as much as death. Pilgrims come here, wash away their sins in water of Ganges and they dream to die here. When you are walking ghats you see many Sadhus who devoted to the path of spirituality. They commit their life practice and praying. In Hinduism, the holy River Ganga is personalized as the Goddess Ganga. The followers of the Hindu religion believe that bathing in Ganga can help wash all sins.
I met this Sadhu on the riverbank of Ganges River which is also famous with glorious sunsets. He talked about life, death, gods and Varanasi with a fluent English, and he answered my questions with patience. He was very passionate to talk about legends of Ganges River.
ABOUT THE ARTIST: Sefa Yamak, who is well known portrait & fashion photographer from Turkey. His photographs have been published by National Geographic, Paris Match, L’Officiel. He had 3 solo exhibitions with under the name Untitled Portraits. In addition, his photographs exhibited in many national and international group exhibitions.

I saw hope, sadness, hardness, intimacy, sincerity, a wisdom on people’s faces but sometimes embarrassment while I was wandering in the streets around the world. In photograph, it is difficult to reflect the essence of what you see, but there is always much more that is felt. I tried to convey many special faces that my path crossed in my photographs. In this collection, I gathered most impressive faces which I came across while I was searching for the perfect portraits.
