August 15, 2020 in Taiban, New Mexico. This historic church in Taiban is special to me and I never miss a chance to catch a storm here. I had to perform tripod gymnastics inside my truck due to the conditions outside. With one leg of my tripod on my lap, another leg between the seats, and the third leg on the floorboard, I set my lighting trigger to fire at 6 second exposures and captured this massive bolt arcing toward the church, almost as if it was walking inside the doors.
Abandoned buildings with stormy skies are a rarity in the storm photography realm. Thousands of miles and immeasurable hours are traveled seeking these types of photographs. Each and every one, has taken heart and soul to acquire. A series of my very best make up this rousing collection. These old dwellings ooze history and resilience as they’ve stood the test of time and onslaught of many storms much like these. Now they will live on forever in these unique images.
