部長は１つ、疑問に思うことがありました。「このドーナツは、お腹が空いたりしないのだろうか？」と。そんな心配から、部長はドーナツについての関心をグッと高めるようになり、特にドーナツの原材料について考えるようになりました。ドーナツに使われている小麦のことが、気になったのです。

このドーナツを作っている小麦は、いったいどんな場所で育ち、どんな風を浴びながら過ごしてきたのか。普段食べている食物がどこからくるのか、誰が作っているのか、非常に興味が沸いたのです。

そんな折、部長は年中米が収穫できる画期的な水田「2.0 水田」の存在を知り、稲作にも興味を持ち始めました。部長は自ら現地へと向かい、稲穂の収穫作業を手伝うことにしました。

「2.0 水田」で働く農家の方たちと共に、部長は稲穂を収穫しました。驚くべきことに、収穫された稲穂の米粒の数が全て素数であることが判明したのです。この数学的な奇跡に、部長は興味津々で、さらに調べることにしました。

水田の面積もまた２つの素数の掛け算であり、そして収穫された稲穂の数もまた素数であることが分かりました。部長は驚きと興奮でいっぱいで、この現象が何を意味しているのか、必然なのか偶然なのか、ドキドキが止まりませんでした。

部長はこの不思議な出来事を社内外で共有し、みんなが普段食べている食物の原材料に対する興味と理解を深めるきっかけを作ったのです。食への理解は、自然とともに生きることであり、自分を取り巻く世界を受け入れる「はじまり」でもありました。

The director had one question. "Will these doughnuts ever make me hungry?" And with that concern, he began to pay much more attention to the doughnut. This concern led him to take a much greater interest in doughnuts, and in particular, he began to think about the ingredients used to make them. He became concerned about the wheat used in the doughnuts.

What kind of place did the wheat used to make these doughnuts grow in, and what kind of wind did it spend its life exposed to? I became very curious about where the food we usually eat comes from and who makes it.

Then he learned of the "2.0 Paddy Field," a revolutionary paddy field that can harvest rice year-round, and became interested in rice cultivation as well. He decided to go there himself and help harvest the rice.

Together with the farmers working in the "2.0 Paddy Fields," he harvested the ears of rice. To his surprise, the number of rice grains in the harvested ears of rice turned out to be all prime numbers. Intrigued by this mathematical miracle, the director decided to investigate further.

He found that the area of a paddy field is also a multiplication of two prime numbers, and that the number of ears of rice harvested is also a prime number. He was surprised and excited, and could not stop wondering what this phenomenon meant, and whether it was inevitable or coincidental.

He shared this strange event both inside and outside the company, and it triggered a deeper interest in and understanding of the raw materials of the food we all eat. Understanding food was the "beginning" of living with nature and accepting the world around us.
