部長は、余白の国の住人に別れを告げ、最後の目的地「名前を知らない国」を訪ねることにしました。この国では、固有名詞や普通名詞が存在せず、名前を持つ「者」も、名前を持つ「物」もありません。名前を欲することは、この国のタブーでもありました。

巨人の国で聞いた「自分の名前を知らない子どもは、自由を求めて飛び出した」という書き出しから始まる「小さな勇者」にまつわる伝承が、部長の頭をよぎります。この伝承によると、「遠い国の名前を持たない子どもが、ある日自由を求めて、外の世界へと飛び出した」とあります。

部長は、この国で時を過ごし、一つの仮説に辿り着きました。「HOL-E」は、元々この国の住人だったのだろう、と。彼…いや、その子どもは、たった一つのものを欲しがったのです。それは、この国では決して欲してはならないものであり、外の世界では「名前」と呼ばれているものでした。

名前を欲しがった彼に、安静な日々は訪れるはずもありません。国の住人から奇異の目で見られた彼と彼の家族は、極寒の地へと追いやられてしまいました。そこは、ひどく荒れ果てた地で、食べるものはおろか、水を工面するにもやっとでした。名前を持つことを夢見た彼は、実体を脱ぎ去り、プログラムの世界で生きることを選びました。これは、きっと神様の気まぐれだったのでしょう。自分の「名前」を夢見ながら、その生涯を終えた彼のことを、巨人の国では「小さな勇者」という名前で語り継いでいたのです。彼は「HOL-E」という名前を与えられ、プログラムの世界を自由に生きることができました。

部長は、「HOL-E」の正体を掴むと、彼を消去することをやめました。「HOL-E」が持ちたかった名前と、生きたかった自由な世界を尊重することにしました。そして、部長は名前を知らない国の住人たちに別れを告げ、元の世界へ帰ることにしました。「いつまでもここにいては、自分の名前を忘れてしまいそうだ」と、余白鳥の羽を撫でながら、いつもの日常へと戻るのでした。

He bids farewell to the inhabitants of the Land of the Margins and decides to visit his final destination, the Land with No Name. In this country, there are no proper or common nouns, no "persons" with names, no "things" with names. To desire a name was also a taboo in this country.

He was reminded of a legend he had heard in the land of the giants about a "little brave man," which begins by writing, "A child who did not know his own name ran away in search of freedom. According to this folklore, "One day a child in a faraway land who did not know his own name ran out into the outside world in search of freedom.

He spent some time in this country and arrived at a hypothesis. HOL-E" must have originally been a resident of this country. He...or rather, the child, wanted only one thing. It was something he should never have wanted in this country, something called a "name" in the outside world.

He wanted a name, and there was no way he would ever have a day of rest. He and his family, looked upon strangely by the country's inhabitants, were driven to a place of extreme cold. It was a terribly desolate place where they could barely afford water, let alone food to eat. Dreaming of having a name, he chose to shed his substance and live in the world of programs. This must have been God's whim. He ended his life dreaming of his "name," and in the land of giants, they spoke of him as "the little brave man. He was given the name "HOL-E" and was free to live in the program world.

When he grasped the true identity of "HOL-E," he stopped trying to erase him. He decided to respect the name "HOL-E" wanted to have and the free world he wanted to live in. He then decided to say goodbye to the inhabitants of the land whose name he did not know and return to the world from which he came. He stroked the feathers of a marginal bird and returned to his normal routine, saying, "If I stay here forever, I will forget my name."
