部長は、小さな国の住人に別れを告げ、彼らと商取引のある「先端医療の国」を訪ねることにしました。彼は、HOL-Eの謎を解くためには、さまざまな知識や技術を吸収する必要があると考えたのです。

次の旅先である「先端医療の国」は、その名の通り、最先端の医療技術が集まる国でした。その国では、食を楽しむことを放棄し、健康であることを第一目的としていました。栄養素が徹底的に管理されたカプセルで、生存に必要な栄養素のみを摂取する人々が住んでいました。

この国では、ドーナツは過去の遺物として語り継がれていました。食べ物としての楽しみや味わいを捨て去り、健康のためにカプセルを用いる国民にとって、ドーナツは、かつての過ちを象徴する物でした。

部長が身につけているドーナツのアクセサリーを見て、国民たちは、「食べ物の１つであるドーナツを、身につけるとは、我々と同じ思想を持っている」と勘違いしてしまいました。部長は、彼らとは違う意味でドーナツを大切にしていたのですが、その事実は伝わりませんでした。

「ドーナツの同志」と歓迎してくれる彼らは、部長に最高級のカプセルを与え、もてなしました。部長は、そのカプセルを試し、驚くべき効果を実感しました。彼はその場で、カプセルが持つ可能性に興味を持ち、先端医療の国で学ぶことがHOL-Eの解決策につながるかもしれないと確信したのでした。

He decided to bid farewell to the inhabitants of the small country and visit the "land of advanced medicine" where he had business dealings with them. He decided that in order to solve the mystery of HOL-E, he needed to absorb a wide variety of knowledge and technology.

The next destination, the "Land of Advanced Medicine," was, as the name implies, a country of cutting-edge medical technology. In that country, the primary objective was to be healthy, abandoning the enjoyment of food. It was inhabited by people who consumed only the nutrients they needed for survival in capsules whose nutrients were thoroughly controlled.

In this country, doughnuts were a relic of the past. For a people who had forsaken the pleasure and taste of food and used capsules for health, the doughnut was a symbol of the mistakes of the past.

Seeing the doughnut accessory he was wearing, the people mistakenly thought that he had the same ideology as us, that he was wearing a doughnut, a piece of food. He valued doughnuts in a different way than they did, but that fact was not conveyed.

They welcomed him as a "doughnut comrade" and treated him to a capsule of the finest quality. He tried the capsules and found them to be amazingly effective. He was intrigued on the spot by the possibilities the capsules held and was convinced that learning in the land of advanced medicine might lead to a solution for HOL-E.
