自分では完璧だと思っても、後で必ずと言っていいほど、どこかに「穴」がある…そんな経験したことがある人は、多いのではないでしょうか。しかし部長の場合は、ちょっと違います。

まだ部長が、部長になる前のずっと昔のこと。入社して間もない頃に巡ってきたビッグチャンスで、大きな失敗を経験して以来、部長は常に「穴」がないかを考えるようになりました。考え得るパターンで並行して思考実験を行い、自分の思考に「穴」がないか…、ものすごい速さで考えます。そして、その中で最も成功確率が高い手法を選択をする…この一連の思考プロセスが、部長の体には染み付いているのです。

しかし、ある朝目が覚めた時。自分の体にドーナツがはまってしまう…なんてことは、部長にとって全くの想定外でした。洗面台で、自分の体の周囲を取り巻くモノの正体を目にした時、部長は驚いてメガネを落としてしまったほど。

あの日と同じように、ふとした衝撃でメガネを落下させてしまった部長。「あ……」と声を上げたのとほぼ同時に、部長の素顔を守るように、どこからか"あのメガネ"が やってきたのです。
