St. Bartholomew was a martyr whose suffering (he was flayed and decapitated upside down for converting a Caucasian chieftain's son) I felt oddly compelled to a few years. Having suffered a few too many life challenges and setbacks, I concocted a modern retailing of this martyrs tale. With diabolicals like lions dragons, sea monsters, and a host of Warcraft minions attacking the skinned-alive saint, this martyrs faux suffering in my story was my way of channeling my hard-knock-life-feelings. As solemn as the subject matter is in this series humor is woven into each work with explosions, flaming lips, and Jetsons-style bubble ships flying in and out of many works adding a fun touch of levity to all the carnage.
