Satoshi's Divine Intervention

On 3 January 2009, the bitcoin network came into existence with Satoshi Nakamoto mining the ‘Genesis Block of Bitcoin’ (Block #0). The coinbase of this block had the following text embedded: “The Times Jan/03/2009 Chancellor on brink of second bailout for banks”, which refers to the headline in The Times published on that day. This is a direct comment on the instability caused by the fractional-reserve banking. The stairway represents the improving state of the financial system from 2009 AD to 2140 AD, which is when the last Bitcoin would be mined.
