Avro RJ85 Retardant Drop on the Mt Peter Ridge Fire north west of the City of Kamloops. I was on the opposite ridge from the fire and through dense smoke saw the drops being made by the Dash 8 and the Avro RJ85. The purpose here is to create lines of retardant to box the fire in and allow the ground crews to come in and work on the fire.
This image was really popular on my social media. I was contacted by the pilots wife who is a wild land firefighter as well and she wanted to surprise him with a print of this photo. He was stationed in Kamloops and I dropped off the print at the hotel desk since our hours were misaligned. He contacted me and made me an open offer for a tour of the aircraft. Next season if they are stationed nearby I will definitely take up that offer.
This collection will consist of 12 photos and is NOW 50% SOLD. Each piece in this collection is 1 of 1.
In the past several years British Columbia Canada has experienced 3 devastating wildfire seasons. Entire towns evacuated, communities destroyed, lives turned upside down and sadly loss of life. It is hard to convey the level of devastation this region has seen in the past few year.
I am also donating to Wildfire Relief Funds. $250 was donated to the BC United Way Wildfire relief and another $250 will be donated once sold out.
