'Existing Il' questions social constructs of gender and sexuality beyond homogeneous representations of being. Exploring and subverting cultural misconceptions of the male body and masculinity, my emotive and often layered portraits explore a fragility of self. A fragility brought on by fractured societal notions of gendered existence. Situating the figures in the natural environment, I raise questions of gender expression and liberty of self in an increasingly religious and oppressive society.
