I’ve pitched for clients over the weekend, did all-nighters and worked 80 hours a week. I know how important time is in our business and it seems like there is never enough of it. Many people around me faced burnout because they couldn’t handle the amount of work in their little time frames. Even some of my friends (from other professional fields) come up to me and say that they hardly find time to sit down and read a book. You no what? Fuck it! You think you can’t change this “lack of time“? Oh my dear - of course you can. Simply ask (your colleaguess/clients) for more time. Do half of the things you wanted to do. Schedule your tasks differently. Don’t do tasks of others, if you can’t. Learn to say „no“. Don’t evaluate money over time. Don’t let yourself bring into situation where you don’t wanna be. Don’t persuade yourself that there is a lack of time and always, always, always concentrate on the task. (Or in German: „Hör auf rum zu pimmeln!“) There is always enough time available!
In my case it meant a hard cut to get back to a healthy work-life balance. I quit my job without knowing where to find a workplace next. From that day on everything changed for the better.
