Artist Statement: On a single breath dive I slip below the ocean surface. With a camera in hand I follow light paths, diving down into cold free flowing waters. A handheld torch accompanies me, illuminating instances that captivate and connect. Natural light cuts through the water and sunlight reflects through the surface, bouncing off skin, scales and fur. Bubbles move as the body that exhaled them disappears into the depths. A perfect connection to nature. - Matthew Bagley's work has been featured in "The Beauty of Underwater Photography" and was selected by The Washington Post's Director of Photography Maryanne Golon as 3rd Prize winner in The Independent Photographer's 2021 Emerging Talent Award.
