Anna Talhami works at the intersection of spirituality, sacred words, and human rights. She is a writer, poet, filmmaker, creative director, and interdisciplinary artist, creating meaningful and inspiring content.
Anna has performed her poetry across the U.S., including at the El Paso border for Artist Uprising with La Mujer Obrera, Alianza Nacional de Campesinas, and One Billion Rising with Eve Ensler; WBAI’s Radio Bloomsday featuring Alec Baldwin, and at the Theopoetics Conference. Her recent poetry is included in Rattle, Hevria Magazine, and Life as Ceremony.
Anna has created work for television and branded content for Teen Vogue, Sony, ABC Family, Oprah Winfrey Network, and MTV and shared her work at the Library of Congress and the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum and in film, stage, museums, and galleries nationwide. While innovating in creative spaces rooted in recognizing our wholeness, she has created, organized, and participated in peacebuilding and collective trauma healing towards collective liberation in the US, Middle East, and Europe. She co-founded and co-runs The Bahebak Project (thissaysiloveyou.org), a response to Islamophobia anti-Arab prejudice, providing emergency assistance to refugees, conflict resolution training around power and privilege, and redistributing resources across intersecting communities.
The Kindness Grocery Cooperative team is excited to invite you to our community care events, Bath Party. These events were originally inspired by the reality that many of our brothers and sisters have been denied the necessity of humanitarian services since the beginning of the lockdown in March 2020.
Since its inception, Bath Party evolved into action-based events curated to provide what is needed based on each individual community and what our team is able to call in to distribute. This can range from building permanent showers, providing hygienic services and products, clean clothes, nutritious food, dropping NFT art for good, hosting workshops and conversations around community banking and sovereignty. While NFT art drops and crypto education may seem divergent from traditional community care, we find it important to include these digital aspects to disseminate potentially transformative information that is inaccessible to many.
Our goal is to plant seeds for long-lasting change that will inevitably assist communities across the country to heal the roots of their struggles and find sovereignty together. Our team is from all over the world from various backgrounds. Many of us have first-hand experience living through houselessness or have family and friends who are houseless.
We share a collective responsibility to care for one another and we are asking for your attention, care, and support to rectify this injustice. To restore dignity within our communities long term, the Kindness Grocery Cooperative and other community collaborators will be hosting 11 Bath Parties across the country throughout 2021.
Our next Bath Party will be taking place on May 22nd in Skid Row, Los Angeles. This event will be providing:
Community Care Crypto to the People NFT Art Drops for Good
We recognize that the pandemic restricts many members of our community from taking part in these physical events, so we will be live streaming Bath Party. We invite all of you to join us.
We know radical acts of love are medicine for the soul so let us be radical together. We welcome your gifts as well as your service. Below, you’ll find the list of ways you can contribute.
We thank you in advance for taking action and celebrating the restoration of our collective humanity!
