«I teach you the Overman. Man is something that shall be overcome. What have you done to overcome him?»
The Nietzschean Overman is something like a living model for a new, heroic form of affirmation. Self-creation is a fundamental attribute of the Overman, that is the ultimate form of man and the pinnacle of self-overcoming: he does not passively embrace an identity, but he builds one of his own by him. He creates values and, by that, he creates himself, thus overcoming nihilism and focusing on this life, not the afterlife. As a free spirit he overcomes mediocrity and is not afraid to live dangerously.Nietzsche's famous formula for the people who want to create themselves is: "Become who you are!" It is an ethics of self-becoming: "We, however, want to become who we are - human beings who are new, unique, incomparable, who give themselves laws, who create themselves!" (GS §335)
