"The Josh Neufeld Name Story" -- a humorous one-page comic on the story of a name. Touching upon being Jewish, growing up different, Star Wars, Superboy, and so much more, the comic has fun with our current obsession with identity and self-discovery. The piece is an homage to a story by the famed autobiographical comics writer Harvey Pekar, illustrated by R. Crumb, which first appeared in American Splendor . (Neufeld was an artist for Pekar on American Splendor for 15 years.) Furthermore, the piece is not the first reference to the “Harvey Pekar Name Story” by a professional cartoonist — Damon Herd did an homage to the Pekar/Crumb piece back in 2013. And of course the story was dramatized by Paul Giamatti in the American Splendor movie!
This comic is brand-new for 2021 and has never been published. 25% of the proceeds will go to Pekar's favorite library in Cleveland.
