Pannonia Arrival
It’s all about blending reality and fiction and creating new realities.
I spent my childhood exactly in this type of landscape – Pannonian Plain. I lend the topographical layout from it and set the frame for my visual compositions. Growing up in the countryside lets you internalize those earthy tones. A collage of everyday situations provides the context.
At the same time, we were desperately looking for these strange new worlds that seemed to be waiting outside our safety radius. Riding our bikes to the local grocery store that kept a handful of rental VHS in its vendor’s tray; treasures to us as they offered windows to new realities.
As a grown up you start to reflect on the imprinting of this ineffable familiar. New realities have pushed in over the last years. The new normal shifts the viewing angle. My childhood remains like a monolith in my memories and my whole being – untouchable, unreachable.
The last years, months, and weeks we have seen pictures of catastrophe, pandemic, war, … I told myself that it remains fictional when I was a child, new realities now.
We haven’t seen an Alien Invasion… so far… Let’s imagine…
