ABOUT THE PIECE

The sixth piece in The Spear of Destiny Collection: Part II is also the thirteenth piece in the entire collection, and sees Harvey’s visualisation of the mysterious raven-haired woman and young child.

Readers of HEROPLOT: The Spear of Destiny will recall a defining moment in the penultimate chapter, The Rising, where a mystic woman and child move through a riotous mob reacting to the murder of an innocent man by the notorious DomiForce Rangers. Through the ensuing chaos, the woman kneels and speaks softly to the boy:

"In every battle, one will rise. In every victory, one must fall."

Words which spread throughout DomiNation as a call to arms and battlecry to metahumans everywhere, for only now has The Rising truly begun.

METHOD

Extensive hand-drawn figurative artwork with composite montage areas combine to create the base model and scene of the riot. Multiple layered effects were then applied to the image and colourisation adjusted to match the psychokinetic powers of the boy and provide a sense of their intensity. Additional lightning and electrical effects were composed and added to further accentuate the focal point of the piece.
