ABOUT THE PIECE
The fourth piece in The Spear of Destiny Collection pays homage to a scene that unbeknown to Edgar will be one that changes his life forever. A celebration that Edgar believes to be in his honour becomes sour when Abelman arrives with Penny. Subdued and remote, he is unable to reach her, and once they arrive at their destination Edgar soon discovers that the party is over, but for poor Penny, it has only just begun....
The piece highlights the injuries that Penny has mysteriously sustained. Her lips cut and swollen, her forehead bruised, as Abelman forces her to sit opposite the boisterous men around the table. Their spirits seemingly remain unmoved, despite the sombre tones of blue and purple which not only represent the distant mood of Penny on that fateful night, but lend themselves readily to enhance and reflect the discolouration of her abuse.
