Vigil
One of my best campsites
After shooting a wedding all day I was pretty tired, but straight after I left for an astro mission and met a friend at this remote location, I'm so glad I did!
The moon was due to set at 10.20pm, we arrived at our location at midnight and set up camp. This was my last shot of the day at around 3am.
I found my composition, then set up the iPano mechanical panorama head for this shot, with my alarm set for 1h17min time to indicate the equipment had finished and I could turn my head torch back on.
The long edge was 49,000 pixels. A gigapixel image! I cropped it a little later on for composition purposes.
About me
I'm Paul Wilson, an Astrophotographer from New Zealand. Born in 1986. I picked up my first camera in 2014 and haven't looked back. Self-taught and constantly pushing the limitless creative potential of photography, always in search of the next shot. I'm happy to have made so many friends through photography, won awards, worked with amazing companies, and impressed my son capturing the universe around us.
As technology evolves and we are wonderfully connected to each other more than ever, sometimes we forget to spend time grounding ourselves to the enchantment of the natural world around us, to look up from our devices and drop distractions, to tune in to the universe and ground ourselves by looking up.
I invite you to collect a part of my astrophotography journey over the past several years, a part of my life's work. Countless nights out under the stars. My dose of meditation, my passion, my obsession. The capturing of photons that have traveled tens of thousands of lightyears to hit my camera sensor and be archived forever.
This collection is 25 images.
The images in this collection are all high resolution and 1/1 NFTs
