My ancestors resided here. I always feel at home when i drive this amazing coastline. One of the best drives in the world to some of the most beautiful beaches you will ever see.
Kia ora, nau mai haere mai... hello and welcome. My name is Pete, I am an indigenous photographer from Aotearoa, New Zealand. Passionate about the land and sea, and all living things, I have been lucky to have returned to the tribal lands of my ancestors and enjoy some of the best scenery in the world and I have had many interactions with so many creatures, nature, life and feel blessed to be able to have captured some of those moments and interactions.
My connection with all living things, the land, the animals, birds, sea life stems from my Māori roots, we have a deep connection and all of what we call Taonga, treasure. The whales, our giant Kauri trees are our guidance and ancestors and carers. Every living thing carries a message for us, the land heals us, we must look after it all.
Ko au te whenua, te whenua ko au - I am the land and the land is me.
