Throughout her life, Marilyn Monroe inhabited fifty homes, including the homes she had with her mother, the orphanage and foster homes of her childhood, hotel rooms and apartments, and rented or purchased homes. "Fifty Houses" is a series of collage photographs consisting of acrylic paint given over a photographic print on canvas of a photo of Marilyn Monroe. In these pictures, Marilyn inhabits paintings by essential and famous artists in which the subject is the rooms or exteriors of the houses these artists inhabited and painted. The collection thus takes us on a journey through some of the most important paintings of the mid-twentieth century and painted in the nearly four decades in which the actress lived.
