I see striking similarities between what happened with the telegraph and what is beginning to happen with the blockchain. In the early days of the telegraph many saw in it a great democratizing potential just as many dreamers see it today in the blockchain. But I must confess that seeing the infinite number of abandoned telegraph poles on the side of the railroad tracks does not seem to be the best of omens.
