Morocco: Land of Colors

Piece #1 of 20

"Sunset in the Red City"

Edition of 1

Marrakech, also known as the Red City, is one of the most popular destinations in Morocco and known for its ancient architecture from the pre-Islamic period, lively souks (marketplaces) and bustling old city. I was sitting on a rooftop with tea when I witnessed this incredible sunset, easily the most beautiful I've seen in my life. Though it can sometimes be difficult to do sunsets justice in a photo, this one didn't disappoint. A brilliant red composes this almost Tatooine-like scene and perfectly complements the Red City.

Morocco: Land of Colors collection image

Morocco: Land of Colors is a limited set of 20 photographs taken during my time spent living in the country in 2015.

Morocco is unique. It spans a multitude of geographies and terrains from the Atlantic Ocean in the west to the Atlas Mountains in the East to the Sahara Desert in the south.

It's geographical diversity is mirrored in its people. With a rich blend of culture from Arab, Spanish, French, African and Berber influences, each city and region in the country takes on a life of its own. Every Moroccan city even has its own colorful name: see The Blue Pearl of Chefchaouen and the Red City of Marrakech.

The title of this collection references the country's nickname: the land of colors. With these photos I aim to showcase the richness of Morocco's culture, people, and color as an ode to what made my time living there so spectacular.
