The Alan are bird-men from Tingguian folklore. Their skin is as tough as the hide of a carabao (water buffalo) and they live in golden houses deep inside dense forests. The Alan are territorial and cannibalistic. They violently devour any would-be thieves who dare to enter their colonies. However, they are also known to have a soft heart for children - raising mortal foundlings who have accidentally stumbled upon their domain or infants who have been left to die in the forest.
