The golden larch or scientifically known as Larix. What makes this tree so special is that it is one of the only, if not the only, conifer trees that changes color and sheds its needles in the Autumn. This is a rather short lived event widespread in the Canadian Rockies and other parts of North America that draws photographers from all over the World. It's quite apparent why, because in the early morning light it makes for some truly spectacular landscape opportunities. To see these impressive peaks encircled by valleys of gold is truly a sight to behold. I consider myself to be very fortunate to live a stones throw from some of these areas. This image represents to me the fleeting moments in life. Things that only happen for short moments of time are that much more special. Some things that happen to you may only happen once in a lifetime and it's important to cherish and appreciate them.

Troposphere collection image

Troposphere is a culmination of some of my favorite work to date. I have spent 30 marvelous years on this planet. The troposphere is the lowest layer of the atmosphere. It provides us with life every single day and it's where all our weather phenomenon happen. As a landscape photographer this affects my work in a massive way. Low pressure systems bring in rain and clouds for those moody shots. High pressure systems bring clear skies, perfect for capturing the stars, northern lights and milky way. Clouds give us amazing contrasts, sunsets and sunrises. A big component of what separates good from great landscape photography is the weather and the conditions it brings. That is why I am forever grateful to be living here, during this era. Capturing the beauty the troposphere has to offer and sharing it with everyone is what inspires me every single day.
