This photo was taken on an early morning drive through the Icefields Parkway. Honestly early mornings are my favorite. It's quiet. It's calm. As a bonus, sometimes you get lucky and get to experience moments like this. As a landscape photographer, I'll speak for us collectively when I say we live for early mornings, late evenings and the middle of the night. That's usually when all of the magic happens. Not much goes on in the middle of the day unless it's a moody day or it's stormy out. My favorite of the three is the morning though. I know it's not scientific, but I just feel like the morning air adds a crispness to your photos you don't otherwise get. This piece is a reminder for me to go out there and watch more sunrises. It's easy to get unmotivated and not go out and shoot, but there's not once I've regretted it. You don't always win with the light, but when you do it makes it that much more rewarding.

Troposphere collection image

Troposphere is a culmination of some of my favorite work to date. I have spent 30 marvelous years on this planet. The troposphere is the lowest layer of the atmosphere. It provides us with life every single day and it's where all our weather phenomenon happen. As a landscape photographer this affects my work in a massive way. Low pressure systems bring in rain and clouds for those moody shots. High pressure systems bring clear skies, perfect for capturing the stars, northern lights and milky way. Clouds give us amazing contrasts, sunsets and sunrises. A big component of what separates good from great landscape photography is the weather and the conditions it brings. That is why I am forever grateful to be living here, during this era. Capturing the beauty the troposphere has to offer and sharing it with everyone is what inspires me every single day.
