For years I had wanted to visit this frequently photographed spot, but had never gotten around to it. Finally this year I made it and I have to say it lived up to the hype. I didn't get the crazy good lighting I had hoped for, but I always try to do the best with what I am given. I will for sure be coming back here in the winter as I believe some snow and ice would really make this scene pop. If you can get it to yourself in the crisp early morning air it is a truly special place. The way the mountains reflect in the nearby pools created by the Bow river add a sense of peace and calm to the scene. Definitely a good place to come if you are working through something in life and need to spend some time contemplating. To me this image represents the peace, focus and serenity that photography brings to my life. When I'm taking photos it's like everything else doesn't exist and time slows down.

Troposphere collection image

Troposphere is a culmination of some of my favorite work to date. I have spent 30 marvelous years on this planet. The troposphere is the lowest layer of the atmosphere. It provides us with life every single day and it's where all our weather phenomenon happen. As a landscape photographer this affects my work in a massive way. Low pressure systems bring in rain and clouds for those moody shots. High pressure systems bring clear skies, perfect for capturing the stars, northern lights and milky way. Clouds give us amazing contrasts, sunsets and sunrises. A big component of what separates good from great landscape photography is the weather and the conditions it brings. That is why I am forever grateful to be living here, during this era. Capturing the beauty the troposphere has to offer and sharing it with everyone is what inspires me every single day.
