Exhibition essay:
As the whole world paused for a split second, humanity was thrown into a state of loss and confusion. Loss of life and the life we knew, loss of control over our environment, over each other and mostly over any meaningful shared vision of our future selves.
This exhibition celebrates luminous chaotic mystical creatures. Luminous with possibilities and surprises, they are creatures with the hunger to live, feel, experiment, grow, explore, create, bend, break etc. In short, the hunger to feel alive.
“I have found both freedom and safety in my madness; the freedom of loneliness and the safety from being understood, for those who understand us enslave something in us.”
― Kahlil Gibran, The Madman
"At a time when chaos and nihilism make more and more sense, meet personalities that thrive in chaos.
They see luminosity where we see dead-ends and suffocation, use their confusion to propel themselves into mystical lands, derive codes from these experiences and gloriously perform their personalities. In doing so, they give humanity hope.
They derive from ambiguity, codes of conduct, see pain as a familiar friend, make peace with their own darkness, and never worry about being seen or understood. "
