“PoweR_PlaY”, 143 ILY Series, 1/1 intuitive abstract digital painting, 2022, Ultra HD resolution 3840x2160 JPEG
1/1 intuitive abstract paintings by Jessica Krause Smith
The theme of the series “143 ILY” is about our responses and experiences of love and also thinking about love in the digital age. I discovered that the abbreviation 143 represents the number of letters in each word of the phrase "I Love You." 143 is typically used in texts or instant messaging. According to popular belief, the use of the numbers 143 to mean "I Love You" dates back to 1915, when Winfield Scott Thompson was the keeper at Minots Ledge lighthouse, off the coast of Cohasset and Scituate, Massachusetts (to the southeast of Boston Harbor). The lighthouse flash sequence was 1-4-3, and Thompson's family could see the light flashing at night. Thompson's wife told their children that it was the "I Love You Lighthouse."
A old story still relevant today. Love code. Intimate and universal.
With digital only viewing in mind, the series is made in vertical UHD monitor resolution/mobile wallpaper size, 2160x3840
