On a crazy September night inIceland, I was on the southern road, scouting for a location before a big solar storm was supposed to hit. I had to stop much earlier at this nice canal leading to the sea, as the aurora decided to show up in the southern skies much earlier than anticipated. I just love the composition here and how the hazy atmosphere all adds to the ethereal view.
The aurora borealis is a mesmerizing natural phenomenon that so many people long to see before they die. It is what started my astrophotography career and I have been chasing them for 8 years now. On some nights, the aurora is very faint, but sometimes it explodes in very intense, bright and colorful shows. My personal favorite experience is when viewing such shows next to a still body of flowing water. When there is no wind and the sky is dark enough, you get the perfect play of mirror on the water surface. You are alone watching in this ephemeral, ethereal world, with only the sounds of nocturnal animals in the distance. In this collection, I am listing some of my best aurora reflection work taken all over the world.
