I've never had such perfect conditions than that night in September 2018. I was at Lysevatnet on Senja with no wind and clear skies. The milky way reflected in the lake as a pink aurora made its appearance. It was weak enough to expose the two correctly, and the aurora painted the landscape colors!

Aurora reflections collection image

The aurora borealis is a mesmerizing natural phenomenon that so many people long to see before they die. It is what started my astrophotography career and I have been chasing them for 8 years now. On some nights, the aurora is very faint, but sometimes it explodes in very intense, bright and colorful shows. My personal favorite experience is when viewing such shows next to a still body of flowing water. When there is no wind and the sky is dark enough, you get the perfect play of mirror on the water surface. You are alone watching in this ephemeral, ethereal world, with only the sounds of nocturnal animals in the distance. In this collection, I am listing some of my best aurora reflection work taken all over the world.
