There is nothing like the southern skies. Once you experience it, it's hard to go back to anything else. Especially if you go to extremely dark and dry places like Chile or Namibia. I really had this idea of taking medium-format shots of this part of the milky way around Eta Carinae and the Southern Cross with my astromodded 6D and combine it with the wicked awesome landscapes of the desert. And the results is WOW. With just a simple pano of 3 1-minute tracked shots at 50mm for the sky, you can already reveal so many different nebulae colors like the Carina nebula and the rich dark molecular clouds in the same region. The vast abundance of bright hot blue and colder red stars of this region also contrast well with everything else.

Pano of 4 shots, Canon 6D modded + Sigma 50mm f1.4 Art + Vixen Polarie + Pure Night LP filter. Foreground is untracked, background is tracked but using the same settings, gear and place were used, the shots were taken back to back. Each panel is taken at ISO 3200, f2.8, 1 minute exposure. Sticthed in PtGui Pro, blended in Ps, edited in Lr.
