On September 26th, 2019, I experienced one of the best aurora shows I have ever seen to date. I drove to Strovatnet, Senja island, Norway, as the wind was completely absent and a big geomagnetic storm was expected. But little did I know that the night was going to be one of my best ever. The aurora literally just exploded in front of me into this huge vortex-like shape, which reflected perfectly into the mirror of the water.

The aurora borealis is a mesmerizing natural phenomenon that so many people long to see before they die. It is what started my astrophotography career and I have been chasing them for 8 years now. On some nights, the aurora is very faint, but sometimes it explodes in very intense, bright and colorful shows. My personal favorite experience is when viewing such shows next to a still body of flowing water. When there is no wind and the sky is dark enough, you get the perfect play of mirror on the water surface. You are alone watching in this ephemeral, ethereal world, with only the sounds of nocturnal animals in the distance. In this collection, I am listing some of my best aurora reflection work taken all over the world.
