the significances of this series to me is that it highlights the misconception of what indigenous land rights means..in a global perspective.
both my children have indigenous "treaty status" and associated "land rights" here in Canada but also unknown, which was a fascinating reality to discover, is that they are also limited few people that can buy property in Jersey Channel Islands Uk. their grandfather was born on the small island and only people described as such are allowed to purchase land there.
what we think of land rights and stereotypes needs to be refocused. this series is the only and only time my children went to jersey to meet their grandfather who passed away during the spring covid year.
(we also took the ferry across to st.malo france also hi-lighted in the series)
