This artwork is part of the "Summer of Max" collection, where I invited fans of Max to share with me their stories, interests, and aspirations—which I then used as inspiration for building Max's world.
Backstory: Wasabi the giant orange cat and Ginkgo the great white shark are best friends. Wasabi loves boba tea and sushi, and she’s especially picky about the latter; she only wants the FRESHEST sushi...that is, straight from the ocean! 🐟
However, Wasabi is afraid of water—as most cats are!—so she often rides on Ginkgo’s back and together they go out to the ocean to fish…with Wasabi's tail. 🎣
Unfortunately, Ginkgo also loves a particular kind of fish—the taiyaki fish—and today, a taiyaki fish has taken a bite of Wasabi’s tail! In her excitement, Ginkgo shakes Wasabi off and splashes her face with water—making Wasabi cry giant rainbows (it’s her magical power). 🌈 Chaos ensures!
Can Ginkgo stay still long enough for Wasabi to get her sushi? 🤷🏻♂️😅
“Summer of Max” is a project 10 months in the making—combining all the lessons I’ve learned as an artist, creator, and community builder in the NFT space over the past year (2021–2022). The main goal of this project is to welcome more participation from Max’s fans in the expansion of Max’s world.
