#14 Himalaya Trekkers 7016x4961px
After boarding the bus at the Darjeeling bus stop early in the morning, we had to change minibuses and jeeps 2 more times before finally arriving at the village of Manibanjang, the starting point of the trek. If I had gone through a travel agency, everything would have been resolved in one shot, but instead, I have gained infinite confidence that I cannot grasp. At this rate, I had the momentum to conquer the snowy mountain in front of me at once. It was also easy to hire Shelpa. The cost is also 800 rupees on condition that you are accompanied by 4 days. It is about 2-3 thousand won in Korean money. It was only 1/20 of the amount initially offered by the travel agency. And Shelpa, who accompanied me for 4 days, introduced her name as ‘Karma’.
It was one of the coolest names I had ever heard while traveling.
“My name is Yong-oh. Kim Yong-oh, Yong Oh Kim. No, Call me friend!”
Sandakpu A full-fledged first step towards Sandakpu has begun. Just in case I didn't know, I bought some emergency food with high calorie, stuffed it in my backpack, and set off with a light foot. Karma said that Sandakpu is a stretch of the Himalayas, and if you go up to the destination, Sandakpu, you can see Kanchenjunga, the third peak in the world, very close. Hearing that, I was very excited, but it was not easy to climb a mountain above 3,000m above sea level.
When I was in Korea, I did not climb mountains often, nor did I go camping or trekking regularly. However, whenever I go on a trip somewhere, I always have a greed for trekking.
Rather than making a record or conquering something, it was so good to just feel the beautiful nature up close and vividly. That is why i can try trekking even with a lot of physical strength.
